2003 No run

June 12, 2004: Summit Lake Lodge

There is always something special about a lodge run.  Usually, it is a 3 pound gourmet hamburger surrounded by wonderful club members.  This was no different, except that we broke a year long club record on member participation.  This was due to our high membership rate in the month of May.  I want to thank everyone who participated or just showed up to meet our new members.  All present were Steve, the Pifer family, Jeff, Shera, Mike, John, Kristi, Jon, Deborah, and Reed.  New members were Dave, Darlene, and Randy.  Did I forget anyone?  It was interesting because we had family members and pets which just goes to show you that everyone is welcome to join us for some top down fun.  Miatas included KOOPA, SALVO, CHEROKEE, LEELOO, CHIEF, JENNY, ON VFR, SCRUFFY, and QUICKSILVER.  Two other OTMs came along, BIMMER, and Brian's Fiero.

We play tested a poker run and learned a few things.  Like, to bring two different sets of cards, one for the driver and one for the navigator.  LOL!  Cristy was the unofficial/official winner with a four of a kind, but offered the prize to Jeff with the second highest hand (pair of Aces).  So, Jeff will get a 1/18 Maisto BMW 325i model.  Special thanks to Jon for assisting as dealer at every stop.  I hope to include more Miata games like this in the near future.

The drive to Summit Lake lodge was nice and was just right, not too long or short.  The sun was popping in and out through the clouds and traffic was mild.  The feeling of a 10 car caravan is fun and also an awesome sight to see.  Although you drive alone it is clear that you are enjoying with others.  John and Kristi took some footage to add to the year end DVD project.  If you see an AKMC member taking your picture, smile and proudly present the official AKMC peace sign.  You most likely be on the website.

After lunch we had a social and time was flying by.  I will have to write all these names down because we are growing fast.  Again, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and got a chance to meet someone new.  Please post your feedback in the forum and keep in touch.  See you at the next event.  We have 20 Miatas in the club, lets get them all out to the GATHERING, it's a family thing.
